In ‘designing your bathroom Part 1’ we are going to show you all the basin options available.
The classic basin and pedestal- it’s still going strong! The
basin and pedestal is the cheapest and easiest basin to install. Every bathroom showroom and DIY shed will have a cheap basin and pedestal in stock. Our basin and peds start from as little as £30! Most basins and peds are modern in shape and available in round and square styles. The basin and pedestal is not all a cheap and cheerful in design there are many manufacturers producing high end super stylish basin and pedestal designs such as Imperial bathrooms, Porcelanosa & Twyfords.
The Wall Mounted Basin- Tidy and simple the
wall mount eliminates the use of the pedestal. Wall mounts are available in many shapes and sizes. If you want to create space in your bathroom then a wall mount basin is the one for you. This basin will sit on the wall tidily with only a bottle trap exposed below. This basin will of course need brackets, so make sure you purchase
compatible wall mount fittings.
The recessed basin (aka: inset)- The recessed basin is designed to be installed within a worktop. Most vanity units will have a matching recessed basin ready for install in a pre-cut space. More and more of us are opting for a vanity units over the basin and pedestal. Vanity units are a great space saver if you want some bathroom storage but don’t want to add a bathroom cupboard or drawer unit. Simply get rid of the ped and take up that space with a small cupboard incorporating your basin. If you have the budget then you might want to go for fully fitted bathroom furniture and integrate both your basin and toilet cistern.
The Undermount Basin- The
undermount is designed to be installed underneath the worktop. This basin style allows you to have a continuous worktop, with the lip of the basin sat flush underneath.
The Inset Basin- like the undermount basin, the
inset basin is designed to be discreet. These basins sit perfectly in a made to measure cut in the worktop.
The Countertop Basin-
Its the modern bathroom number one choice! The counter top basin is designed to sit on your bathroom worktop, with or without furniture. If you don’t want cupboards then, you could have a worktop fixed to your wall as long or as short as you like then sit your basin on top. There are so many counter top basins available, round, square, tall, shallow, white, glass, silver, gold.
